August 2024 has been a spectacular month for Angelia, as she continued her mission of spreading the joy and magic of mermaiding to both new and experienced mermaids. This month, her adventures revolved around teaching the PADI Advanced Mermaid Course and the Discover Mermaid Course, as well as a special underwater performance in Kota Kinabalu. Together with the Malaysia Mermaid Club Instructor Team, Angelia performed for local school children, bringing the wonder of the ocean and mermaids to life. Teaching the PADI Advanced Mermaid Course
One of the most exciting aspects of August for Angelia was teaching the PADI Advanced Mermaid Course to her more experienced students. The Advanced Mermaid Course is designed for mermaids who have already mastered the basics and want to take their skills to the next level. With a focus on more technical underwater skills, breath control, and enhanced tail swimming techniques, this course helps mermaids become more graceful and confident in the water.
“The PADI Advanced Mermaid Course is really special because it allows students to explore their potential even further,” Angelia shared. “It’s amazing to see how much they grow in just a few sessions. They not only improve their swimming and posing skills but also develop a deeper connection to the ocean.”
Held in the stunning waters of Kota Kinabalu, Angelia’s Advanced Mermaid classes took place at Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, a picturesque spot known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life. Students were able to practice advanced mermaid maneuvers while enjoying the beautiful underwater scenery, making their training both challenging and fun.
One of Angelia’s students, who completed the Advanced Mermaid Course, said, “Angelia’s teaching really helped me improve my skills. She has such a calm and encouraging way of guiding us, and the beautiful surroundings made the whole experience unforgettable.”
Introducing New Mermaids to the Ocean with the Discover Mermaid Course
While Angelia was busy with her advanced students, she was also introducing newcomers to the magical world of mermaiding through the PADI Discover Mermaid Course. This beginner-level course is perfect for anyone who has ever dreamed of transforming into a mermaid and experiencing the ocean in a whole new way.
“Teaching the PADI Discover Mermaid Course is always a joy,” Angelia said. “It’s so rewarding to see the excitement on my students’ faces when they put on their tails for the first time and swim in the ocean. It’s like watching someone’s dream come true.”
The Discover Mermaid Course focuses on teaching the basics of mermaid swimming, tail movement, breath control, and underwater safety. Angelia held these sessions in calm, shallow waters around Sabah, making it easy for beginners to feel comfortable and confident as they learned to swim like a mermaid.
One of the highlights of the Discover Mermaid Course is when students get to take their first swim in a mermaid tail. “There’s always a sense of wonder when someone takes their first mermaid swim,” Angelia shared. “It’s not just about the swimming—it’s about feeling like part of the ocean and experiencing a magical connection to the water.”
With Angelia’s expert guidance, her Discover Mermaid students left the course with new skills and unforgettable memories, ready to continue their mermaid journeys.
Underwater Performance in Kota Kinabalu with the Malaysia Mermaid Club Instructor Team
August also brought an exciting opportunity for Angelia and the Malaysia Mermaid Club Instructor Team to showcase their talents in an underwater performance for local school children in Kota Kinabalu. This special event was designed to introduce the children to the beauty of the ocean and the enchanting world of mermaids.
Held at a local pool, the performance featured Angelia and her team as they performed a mesmerizing underwater routine, complete with synchronized swimming, graceful tail movements, and stunning underwater poses. The children watched in awe as the mermaids swam gracefully beneath the surface, bringing a touch of magic to their day.
“The underwater performance was so much fun!” Angelia said. “The children were absolutely captivated, and it was a wonderful opportunity to share the magic of mermaiding with them. We also used the performance to talk about the importance of ocean conservation and how we can all play a role in protecting the sea.”
After the performance, Angelia and the instructors took time to answer the children’s questions about mermaids, the ocean, and what it’s like to swim in a tail. The event left a lasting impression on the students, many of whom expressed interest in taking mermaid courses themselves in the future.
