Wow, it feels like forever since I last shared my underwater escapades with you here at Malaysia Mermaid Club! I promise I haven’t swapped my fins for a rolling pin permanently—but life on land has been a whirlwind of flour, frosting, and fantastic new experiences! Yes, I’ve been busy setting up my very own bakery (who knew baking was as magical as mermaiding?), while also teaching PADI Basic Mermaid Courses to the incredible Miss Scuba International contestants. Oh, and let’s not forget the adrenaline-pumping sessions of Advanced Mermaid Rescue training.
But don’t worry—my heart still belongs to the ocean, and I’m thrilled to dive back in with all of you. In this quarter’s blog series, I’ll share behind-the-scenes stories from my mermaid classes, reveal what it’s like to juggle bakery life with mermaid life, and of course, take you on some breathtaking underwater adventures.

Teaching Miss Scuba International Contestants
Angelia recently had the incredible opportunity to teach the contestants of Miss Scuba International the PADI Basic Mermaid Course in the stunning waters of Mabul Island, in collaboration with Sipadan Mabul Resort (SMART). The crystal-clear seas provided the perfect backdrop for the contestants to learn essential mermaid skills, from breath control to elegant underwater movements. Angelia guided the participants through the fundamentals, fostering a deep appreciation for ocean conservation along the way. The course was not just about mermaid techniques—it was a journey of confidence-building, teamwork, and ocean stewardship. Mabul Island’s vibrant marine life added a magical touch, making the experience unforgettable for everyone involved.
Rescue Skills in the PADI Advanced Mermaid Course
During the recent PADI Advanced Mermaid Course, Angelia led an intensive session focused on teaching the critical rescue skill of surfacing an unresponsive mermaid. With safety as the top priority, participants learned to assess the situation, maintain buoyancy, and apply rescue techniques to bring a fellow mermaid safely to the surface. Angelia emphasized the importance of clear communication, calm decision-making, and teamwork in high-pressure scenarios. The mermaids practiced repeated drills to build confidence and muscle memory, ensuring they were prepared for real-life emergencies. By mastering this essential skill, the students not only became safer underwater performers but also more responsible ocean ambassadors.
