PADI Underwater Dance Instructor Course
Turn your underwater dance experience into a professional teaching pathway with the PADI Underwater Dance Instructor Course in Malaysia. This three-day course is for eligible PADI Mermaid and PADI Freediver instructors who want to teach the PADI Underwater Dance Specialty.
You’ll build on your student-level Underwater Dance training and develop the knowledge and teaching skills needed to conduct the specialty course in line with PADI standards.
What to Expect
The PADI Underwater Dance Instructor Course prepares you to teach the PADI Underwater Dance Specialty. You’ll practise presenting the program at instructor level, including delivering knowledge development and confined-water teaching presentations.
Training focuses on making clear, effective demonstrations; managing and controlling a class; solving problems that may arise during training; and assessing whether students meet the course performance requirements. You’ll also develop your ability to guide students through the required skills while maintaining appropriate supervision and control.
PADI Underwater Dance Instructor Course Schedule
The course runs over three days, with pool training and classroom sessions each day.

Pool sessions may finish earlier or later depending on student progress. Your instructor will confirm the detailed schedule before the course.
Where Can You Take the Course?
The PADI Underwater Dance Instructor Course can be taught in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Pahang. Contact Malaysia Mermaid Club to check available dates and arrangements in your preferred location.
Instructor Prerequisites
To qualify for the PADI Underwater Dance Specialty Instructor rating, you must:
- Hold active teaching status as a PADI Mermaid Instructor or PADI Freediver Instructor.
- Have completed the PADI Underwater Dance course at student level.
- Be comfortable participating in breath-hold activities in the water.
The course outline allows an optional open-water dive for students who also hold a PADI Advanced Mermaid or PADI Freediver certification, or a qualifying equivalent. Ask us whether this option is available for your course.
