Angelia’s Mermaid Adventures
Angelia’s Mermaid Adventures in March 2023 has had huge developments in the Kota Kinabalu and the Malaysia mermaid market. As usual, Angelia has been teaching plenty of the new students and promoting the mermaid world to new people. Angelia has also hosted the first ever Mermaid performance in Sabah in collaboration with Aquaspace. Angelia also experienced her first International Mermaid Day with a day out celebrating in the ocean and was able to teach PADI Ambassadiver Julia Aveline Rabenjoro to become a PADI Mermaid.
International Mermaid Day
I was so happy to celebrate my first ever International Mermaid Day on 29th March 2023 with my mermaid students in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. As my list of students keeps growing, my mermaid students available were able to join me for a day of fun mermaiding at Sapi Island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. The day was action packed with everyone having so much fun, its great to be part of the Malaysia Mermaid Club to join the Mermaid Club Gatherings. Next year so many more mermaids will join me.
First Ever Mermaid Performance in Sabah
Landing the opportunity to host the first ever Mermaid Performance in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in collaboration with Aquaspace on 17th March 2023 made me so happy that people put their trust in me. We even made the front page of the local newspaper. I can’t be prouder of the hard work I have been putting in to develop the mermaid market in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, and with the help of my Malaysia Mermaid Club members we trained hard to get a performance worthy of the Sabah history books. This will start to be a monthly show with the next performance on 29th April 2023.
New PADI Mermaid Students
March was a very busy month with me certifying lots of new mermaids. I started introducing children as young as 6 years old to mermaiding. In March I trained three children to become PADI Basic Mermaids which really pleased me to see the children so comfortable in the water as they first took part in my children swimming lessons. I also trained PADI Advanced Mermaids in Sapi Island and also trained several PADI Mermaids in the swimming pool.
PADI Ambassadiver – Julia the Mermaid
I was so proud to have the opportunity to teach the PADI Ambassadiver Julia Aveline Rabenjoro (15 years) to become a PADI Mermaid. Julia is the founder of ‘Seed of Hope’ Facebook page and spreads messages on conservation around the world and also has a teenager group ‘Bubbles of Hope’ that helps clean up the local reefs. Julia was so talented when it comes to mermaiding and she took it on with ease. I got to know Julia when we took our PADI Freediving course together in early 2022 and not only freediving buddies but we are now mermaid buddies too.
