PADI Advanced Mermaid
The PADI Advanced Mermaid course, builds on your PADI Mermaid certification where you apply the skills and techniques learnt to the open water environment. The PADI Advanced Mermaid course takes just two days to complete as a standalone course. You can jump straight to the PADI Advanced Mermaid course if you take it as a combo package together with the PADI Mermaid course. In the PADI Advanced Mermaid program you’ll learn the basics of how the open water environment is different from a swimming pool and introduce you to mermaid techniques in open water. You’ll also learn about the aquatic life and have the chance to take up one of our conservation programs.
What To Expect
During the PADI Advanced Mermaid course your learning has three parts:
- Through PADI Advanced Mermaid eLearning you will study independently using the PADI online system to study the PADI Advanced Mermaid eLearning. This will take approximately 3-4 hours and must be completed prior to the schedule below.
- In a swimming pool you will review all skills learnt in the PADI mermaid course s learning and prepare for mermaiding, rescue/problem management skills and how to safely conduct mermaid dives. You will also learn mermaid skills, such as dolphin kicks, mermaid turns, special mermaid skills like backward somersault turns, underwater handshaking mermaid bubbles, and back glides.
- In the open water sessions, which will be out at one of the islands, you will practice what you have learnt in the swimming under guidance of the PADI Mermaid Instructor in which you learn and practice the set-up, conduct and execution of open water mermaid dives, including environmentally friendly mermaid diving techniques.
